Here's What
Rick's Listeners Are Saying About Rick
Kuethe... |
|
"Your music is absolutely beautiful! Your breathtaking melodies sparked so many memories for me...from 'The Child Within,' which reminds me of when my children were first born and I spent countless hours just watching them and counting my blessings, to 'Don't Be Afraid to Say Goodbye,' which reminds me of the way I told my son to be a big boy on his first day of preschool, when all the time I was just waiting to go outside to my car so I could cry my heart out (which I did, of course)...to 'The Cookie Jar,' which brings me back to my days at Providence College, spending hours in the music building practicing Mozart and Haydn piano sonatas...to 'Corral in F#' which reminds me of my own efforts to harmonize and analyze chorales in my freshman music theory class. As a wife, a mother of a 3-year-old daughter and 4-year-old son, and a graduate student at Rhode Island College, I seldom have time for myself. However, ever since I received your music, I feel like I've been given the opportunity to slow down just a bit and make some time for me. In my hustle and bustle life, your music has given me a place to relax, a safe haven in which to rest and appreciate the beauty of life, even if only for a few moments at a time. I've never written a letter like this before, but then again, I've
never heard music like yours either. When I told my husband I was writing
you a letter to tell you how much I enjoyed your music, he gave me
a strange look that said "Why?" I actually considered not
sending it, but then I thought, with so many people in the world being
so quick to criticize and find fault with others today, why not say
something nice and let someone know when they've done a good job? So
here it is, for whatever it's worth. Good job, Rick, and thanks for
sharing your beautiful music with me." |
"Christmas Eve 1998 brought an ice storm to Virginia
that left more than 100,000 area residents without power for several
days. Our kitchen was damaged from a limb that cracked through our
window; plywood covered the area.
On Christmas day I was huddled in below-freezing
temperature, next to an ornamental gas fireplace, wrapped in blankets,
my ski coat, ski pants, and gloves. My only comfort was a Rick Kuethe
CD and piano book (a new Christmas present). A battery-operated CD
player played Rick's music and my son's battery-powered keyboard
sat on my lap. In gloves, I learned songs from 'Nebraska Suite'.
It warmed my heart and made the time pass easily and peacefully.
The music is absolutely compelling and inspiring. It was a Christmas
I'll never forget." |
| "This letter may seem a bit unusual, but I feel compelled to write
and tell you how much you've helped me get through this night. Later
today I must undergo surgery and with all the bravado of a very independent,
active lady, I felt I had this in perspective and quite under control.
However, the ghosts of doubt and anxiety began to visit, making the night
long and rather emotional.
Music has always touched a part of my brain and heart in such a central core. Having received your CD a week ago, I had become empassioned with the beauty of the music. Consequently when I awoke which seemed to happen frequently during the night, I would get calmed by your music to allow me to become relaxed again. God has given you a gift to transmit beauty through your music and
I thank him for that. Especially, I thank you for sharing that gift
to help me get through this difficult night of feaurful anticipation." |

| "I have contacted so many radio
stations and record stores trying to locate your Nebraska Suite CD. Your
music is absolutely the most beautiful
sound I have ever heard." --L.R., Marlboro, MA |
"I had been glued to CNN, feeling depressed and that nothing was
right in our world. I immediately sat down with your music and became
immersed in the beauty of "The Child Within." Our entire family
has been charmed by your tapes and we always play them whenever we travel
the highways...it keeps our natives (ages 9, 8, 3 & 2) from getting
restless." --M.B., Columubus, NE |
| "Your melodies are the type that even on first hearing feel like
they are a part of the collective consciousness. It's like they were
meant to be, and you reminded us. I think these are the best kind of
songs. Your playing is smooth, subtle, and beautiful. You use a piano
differently than anyone I've heard. You really put feeling into your
songs." --N.D., Omaha, NE |
"The Child Within" me thanks the child within you for yet
more of the gentle, sweet, melodic beauty you have created and now share
with me...a feast for my happy heart. My spirits are soaring and smiling." --B.E., Montpelier, VT |
| "Rick Kuethe's music nourishes me--its beauty
wraps itself around me like a warm security blanket. I feel held, nourished,
blessed." --E.L., Carmel, CA |
"I felt I must write and tell you
how much I love your music. Your simple, beautifully clear themes have
so much power
to move one's heart." --L.T., St. Paul, MN |
| "Your music is hauntingly beautiful. In fact, it became my choice
to take into the birthing suite at Newton Medical Center when our fourth
child was born. Now whenever I listen to those songs, the memories (and
the tears) of that wonderful moment came rushing back. Thank you so much
for your extraordinary music. It has truly touched our lives and hearts." --D.R., Hesston, KS |
"I wish I had words as eloquent as your music to tell you what
a lovely gift you have given the world. The music is almost unbearably
poignant. I have listened over and over again. I described "Nebraska
Suite" to someone as the theme music of a well-lived life." --M.C., Tucson, AZ |
| "I listened to Rick's music last night while making dinner;
so beautiful and full of quiet joy. And I made the best turkey meatloaf
of my life." --K.D., Denver, CO |
"The beauty of your songs makes
me want to cry, but the joy in the music makes that impossible. You really
have touched my soul. I know
other people will feel the same joy, beauty and sense of boundless hope
that your music conveys to me." --A.W., Boston, MA |
"Your CD is heaven!
Your soul has been touched by God." --C.W., Randolph, MA |
